Southern Taiwan Science Park to Become “Medical Equipment Silicon Valley” [2010-07-28] 
The Southern Taiwan Science Park is fully prepared to develop into a “medical equipment Silicon Valley” in Taiwan, aiming to become an indispensable medical equipment sourcing center in the world.
After years of cultivation, the Southern Taiwan Science Park has become one of the important production sites of biotechnology in Taiwan. The Kaohsiung Medical Device Special Zone within the Park has especially been planned to become the industry clustering locations of dental and orthopedics medical equipment manufacturing, inviting innovative domestic and overseas manufacturers to station. The plan has been carried out for over a year with clear results. At the moment more than 20 medical equipment manufacturers have stationed at the Kaohsiung Medical Device Special Zone, including Alliance Global Technology Co., Ltd. which used to be in the fastener industry, Hung-Chun Bio-S Co., Ltd, and HUANG LIANG BIOMEDICAL TECHNOLOGY Co., Ltd. Medical research organizations such as Kaohsiung Medical University and National Taiwan University Hospital have likewise been invited to establish research and development centers in the Zone. What is also worth mentioning is that the only internationally-certified artificial-joint manufacturer in Asia—United Orthopedic Corporation—has already applied to base in the Zone in March this year.
